Why couldn't it be me?
These are the words that go through a parents mind when they are told their child has a terrible disease. So terrible, in fact, that there is no cure and very little treatment. Out of my three children, two of them, Keith, a 26 year old Special Education teacher and Lindsay, a 20 year old Vet-Tech Assistant have recently been diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia. Friedreich’s Ataxia is a neuro-muscular disease that causes you to lose control of your muscles and can cause heart disease and Diabetes. With the help of “Seek a Miracle”/ Muscular Dystrophy Association or SAM-MDA and FARA (Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance) we can fund the research that is desperately needed to fight this devastating illness. With your donation, we can give all those affected with this disease hope, effective treatment and eventually a cure. Of the 43 neuro-muscular diseases, Friedreich’s Ataxia is one researchers feel is within arm’s reach of curing. Let’s say to ourselves, why can’t it be me who has helped fund the research to cure Friedreich’s Ataxia. The only thing standing between my kids and a cure is research. Together, we will find a cure!! Kyle, Keith, Lindsay & Debbie Dalton 2002
